OUR WINTER CONCERT IS THIS TUESDAY 12/10!

Our concert is Tuesday 12/10, at 7:00 in the YHS Auditorium.  Students will need to arrive by 6:30 to warm up. All students will need to be dressed appropriately in “Concert Black.”

CONCERT DRESS (a.k.a “Concert Black”):

Concert dress requirements have been clearly communicated since September and are, again, clearly outlined below.

Photos of good examples of “Concert Black” for ladies and gentlemen are attached.

The list of requirements and a short video of appropriate concert dress can also be found here: http://yhsbands.joemenduni.com/web/concert-black/

*In particular, ladies’ skirts must fall below the knee.  Ladies, please wear black dress pants if you can’t find a skirt that falls below the knee*

JAZZ BAND SOUND CHECK

As noted above, our Winter Concert is Tuesday 12/10.  Please arrive to the auditorium by 5:45 so we can successfully complete our sound check.  Thank you in advance for being prompt. We will be wearing all black and a white tie.

ALL COUNTY JAZZ AUDITIONS

Similar to NYSSMA, YHS Jazz Band students are eligible to audition for our Westchester All County Jazz Band.  Being selected is an elite musical honor and a fantastic opportunity to perform with some of Westchester’s most talented student jazz musicians!  Interested students should prepare a jazz NYSSMA solo, fill out an application and attend the audition.   You do not need to improvise to audition. The audition date is Saturday 1/11/20 Details are attached. See Ms. Kluga for an application. Applications are DUE to me by Friday, 12/13.

CITRUS DELIVERY MONDAY 12/16

The citrus delivery date is Monday 12/16. All students are required to pick up their ENTIRE order on this day.  Please mark your calendars!  WE ARE IN NEED OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS.  Parent and student volunteers will be needed from 7:00 – 11:00am to help unload the trucks, and again from 2:00 – 7:00pm to help students assemble and pick up their orders. Look for an e-mail from Band Aid Core Helper (BACH) Mrs. Menduni with info on how you can help.

OPERATION SANTA – THANK YOU!

Was a great success!  Using a portion of the profit from this year’s Citrus Sale, we purchased over $250 worth of warm clothing, toiletries, toys and treats for our pre-K student, Arianna.  Thank you so much as well to the families who sent in extra gifts! The students and Ms. Kluga are so happy that we have this meaningful opportunity to give back.

WIND ENSEMBLE TO CAROL AT WILKEN’S FARM

To help raise funds for our upcoming Disney Festival trip, Wind Ensemble students have been invited to perform Christmas Carols at Wilken’s farm. We will be caroling outdoors, so please plan to dress warmly (and festively!). Music will be distributed and learned in class this week (after our concert…). We are hoping to carol on the following dates:

Saturday 12/14 1pm-3pm

Sunday 12/15 1pm-3pm

Interested students please sign up in the band room. Ms. Kluga will distribute more information once we find out if there are enough students available to create viable ensembles.
