Do you need help practicing your lesson HW assignment? Guided practice sessions are offered weekly and hosted by our junior and senior band members (thank you!). Students who lead or attend a session receive 1 point of extra credit. Sessions are held period 9, unless noted otherwise. Additionally, Ms Kluga is always available for help by appointment.

Congratulations to our YHS Music students who represented Yorktown as members of Area All-State this weekend; honor ensembles made up of the best student musicians in the county.
Bravo to Param Amre (percussion), Gillian Grabowski (horn), Esther-Anne Villamin (trumpet) George Whalen (trumpet), and Julia Whalen (flute/piccolo) on a beautiful concert performance!

§ Free Westchester Symphonic Winds tickets for students: The WSW, a local professional Concert Band, opens its 36th season on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at 3 PM at the Tarrytown Music Hall. Part of this concert will feature a bassoon/oboe ensemble performing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. Contact Ms. Kluga for tickets.
§ Taps for Veterans – National Salute 2023: Calling all trumpet players! We learned TAPS at last week’s lesson. You can participate in this honored and patriotic salute by registering here

* SAVE THE DATE: Our citrus will be delivered on Thurs. 12/14. Your student is responsible for picking up their entire order between 2:30 and 7:00pm at YHS, and then delivering to their customers.

Students in the Concert Band will participate in the 2024 Rhythms International Music Festival at Six Flags Great Adventure. Saturday 5/11. Cost estimate is $200. More info TBA.
Students in the Wind Ensemble will participate in the 2024 Northeast Band Festival at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. Friday 5/3 through Sunday 5/5. Cost estimate is $575. More info TBA.
It is my pleasure to announce our participation in the following 2024 music festivals! We are thrilled to offer these musical opportunities to our students!
§ Our YHS Band Winter Concert will take place Tuesday, December 12th at 7pm in the YHS auditorium. Students will be asked to arrive by 6:30pm (Jazz Band at 5:45pm) for sound check.
§ Students are asked to wear “Concert Black,” which is all black professional, dressy attire.
o Ladies: Black dressy shirt. No sleeveless shirts or spaghetti straps. Appropriate necklines, please. Black dressy pants or skirt (below the knee when you sit down) and black dress shoes.
o Gentlemen: Black dressy button-down long-sleeved shirt with a collar. Black dress pants. Black dress shoes. Black socks.

Such a fun tradition! Our 20th annual costume contest will take place in class on Tuesday, October 31st. Winners in each class will receive half of Ms. Kluga’s citrus order. (Extra points if your costume is home-made, or in any way musical.) Looking forward to celebrating this fun day with you!
