All band students are invited – and especially our freshmen students! Join us as we perform crowd-rallying music at the varsity football game, and enjoy a pre-game dinner and tons of band spirit beforehand.

What: Pep Band BBQ and Homecoming Varsity Football Game

When: Friday, October 1st at 5:00pm (Dinner) and game (7:00pm)

Where: Dinner will be pizza, salad, and dessert and will be served outdoors behind the YHS Band Room

Wear: Your YHS Band Polo

We are also looking for parents to donate supplies and/or their time.  We will need chaperones, food donations, food service, and clean-up help. Please look for an e-mail from parent-organizers Sarah Gambetta ([email protected]) to find out how you can help.

Our annual Music Boosters Tag Sale is back! Please save your stuff to donate.  Our sale is Saturday 10/16 from 9am-2pm outdoors in the tent and courtyard adjacent to the YHS Library.  We will be accepting donations on Friday 10/15 from 3-7pm.  Tell your friends and neighbors!  Parent and student volunteers will be needed to make this event a success.  Look for an e-mail in the coming weeks to find out how you can help. The First Nighters is a parent group whose mission is to support the YCSD Performing Arts programs.  Each year they invite parents to help their cause!   Some of their initiatives include:

• Advocating for and supporting the arts programs in all schools.
• Purchasing supplies for the arts programs in all schools.
• Providing yearly scholarships to outstanding seniors.
• Honoring Performing Arts juniors and seniors at an annual recognition dinner. 

Today 40 YHS Band students enjoyed a social outing to Wilken’s Farm!  Students had fun apple picking, eating cider donuts, and making “Bandtastic” memories.  Many thanks to Band Officers Thomas Mitchell (’23) and Chinmay Satpute (’22) for organizing this trip. Many thanks as well to the group of Band parents who helped chaperone – the students and Ms. Kluga appreciate your time and support! Photos attached for you to enjoy.

Will begin this week. The September lesson calendar is attached. Wind Ensemble students are in group 1’s. Concert Band students are in group 2’s. If you have questions about this important part of your student’s grade in Band, please review the YHS Band Handbook or contact Ms. Kluga.

Please bring these supplies to your Band lesson this week.  The list of musical accessories can be found in our handbook.

Auditions will take place Wednesday 9/22 from 1:35 – 3:00. Requirements and sign-ups are available in the Band room.  Weekly rehearsals will begin the week of 9/27 on a day and time TBA.  

Returning Jazz Band students do not need to audition, but are required to attend the meeting at 1:35 on 9/22.

We are looking forward to our next Pep Band outing, which is Homecoming on Friday 10/1. Band BBQ at 5pm, game at 7pm. More details will follow. All YHS Band students are welcome!  This is a great way to support our football team and earn extra-credit!

Also via registration, you will receive periodic e-mails from our Band Aid Core Helpers (BACH) parent organization ([email protected]) informing you of ways that you can volunteer at our events.  If you are interested, there are many ways you can be involved!

If you haven’t already, please review this document with your students, fill out the information on the last page, and send the signed page to Mrs. Kluga. It is attached if you need a copy.

Every incoming Band student needs a YHS Band polo for use at our events.  See the attached form for more information.
