This will be our final Jazz Band rehearsal for the year. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you all, through the many challenges this year presented. She is so proud of the music you have made together!
To prepare for our in-person performance, all students are asked to attend in-person outdoor rehearsals, each from 1:45-2:30. Remote students, please bring your signed health attestation and see Ms. Kluga to have your temperature checked.

WHERE: The concert will be held outdoors on the YHS Campus
WEAR: Concert Black
Gentlemen- Long sleeved button-down black shirt, black shoes, black socks
Ladies- Black top (appropriate neck-line, with sleeves), long black skirt or black pants.
SENIORS- please wear your senior pin
GUESTS: Seniors (only) will be allowed to bring 2 guests each. The concert will be video-taped and/or live-streamed for the rest of our audience to enjoy.
All students (remote and in person) are asked to arrive to the sidewalk outside the Band Room by 2:00. Remote students, please bring your signed health attestation and see Ms. Kluga to have your temperature checked.
DETAILS FOR MEMORIAL DAY
WHAT: Perform the National Anthem and Taps for the Yorktown Memorial Day ceremony
DATE: Monday, 5/31
TIME: Meet promptly at 10:30am
WHERE: In front of Town Hall
WEAR: Black pants, the YHS Band polo, black socks, black shoes. We will play with masks and bell covers, and use the FlipFolder app. Be sure to charge your cell phone!

An opportunity for all of us to honor Memorial Day in a socially-distanced way. Please consider participating in this National experience.
At 3:00pm on Memorial Day (Monday 5/31), trumpet players and instrumentalists of all types are invited to step outside their homes and perform Taps for their neighborhood. More details and a link to the music can be found below. If you participate, Ms. Kluga would love to see a photo of you or hear your video. She plans to play Taps from her driveway. Her sister, who is a trumpet player in the Air Force, will be playing Taps from where she is stationed in Germany.

Dearest Seniors: Ms. Kluga wants to help make your last week’s in our YHS Band program as special as possible, by upholding the most band traditions as possible! She would love to feature you in our YHS Band Spring Concert program. Please use the attached worksheet to help you compose a short paragraph about yourself, and e-mail it to Ms. Kluga by Friday 5/28.
Our band program would not be what it is without awesome student leadership! If you are enthusiastic about band, and would like the opportunity to devote your time to its success, please consider running for office. The application is attached and is due by Friday, May 28th.

FYI: Trumpet players – if the music on the above website is too high for you, Taps can be played using any valve combination for all notes (like a lip slur). Try starting on low D (1+3) and using that fingering for all the notes.
